| Executive Coaching
As specialists in leadership management, Alex Kaar is across the most current science and philosophies of human resources management. The skill sets required of today's business leaders differ to those of the past. Key people in organisations respond to self-awareness, innovation, collaboration and passion. Our executive coaches react to the need for evolution in today's corporate environment.
Typically, an executive coach will deliver an all encompassing range of exercises that assist in focusing on leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. The participant develops a workable understanding of their current skill levels, and through learning and personal development, develops those skills to a higher level. Working together, the coach and participant determine the programme and the desired outcomes. This one-on-one method of development, which can last up to ten months, has proven to enhance dormant or developing talents. With qualified and experienced consultants, the onus of managing one's career can be shared in a compassionate and professional environment.
The Coaching Partnership
Leadership and evolution are central to today’s and tomorrow’s executives, with sustainable success being dependant on a flexible and agile business, which itself relies upon a new and more relevant model of organisational leadership.
Tomorrow’s executives require wisdom and self awareness, which must be fostered through collaboration, self-discipline, mutuality and passion, replacing coercion, compliance, hierarchy and control that existed in what is commonly referred to as the old school.
What is Coaching?
Coaching today is increasingly being recognised for assessing and reformulating values and goals, developing feedback systems and achieving solutions. Typically senior executives are focussed on running their businesses and forget that the most important business is their career.
The benefits achieved from coaching can vary, since objectives are set with participants' interests and specific situation in mind, usually following the first few sessions. It is usual for these to include:
Improved interpersonal and communication skills
Improved leadership and team awareness
Understanding of personal style
Alignment of personal and organisational objectives
Deepened self awareness of core values, attitudes and motivation
Increased focus on key activities
Improved self management
How Coaching Works
The Agenda
The coach and coachee will work together to decide what would constitute a successful outcome for the programme, exploring these typical questions:
How do you assess your current situation?
What areas do you want to focus on…skills, situations, people, or a combination?
What are the success criteria, ideally specific?
How has your performance measured up to objectives until now?
How do you measure success from a personal perspective?
How do others measure your success?
How do we apply the coaching outcome to your behaviours after we complete the program?
The Process
The coaching process is made up of a series of one and a half hour sessions, spread over the agreed period. These structured discussions are designed to accelerate progress towards your personal and business goals. Each session will usually result in an action plan.
The styles of these discussions are intended to be facilitative, focussing on your ability to generate understanding and effective change, with guidance from the coach rather than being instructed. Flexibility is important so we can incorporate new issues as they arise in the workplace.
It is proposed that the programme commence with an initial four sessions over the first 6/7 weeks, so that goals and self awareness are explored and successfully established. This will be followed by fortnightly sessions for a following six/nine month period, at which point it is useful to assess gains, and determine any future commitments.
The Commitment
Given the need to ensure coaching does not interfere with your business activities, session times can be planned and varied each fortnight by agreement, at a time and place suitable to you. The initial commitment to this programme is therefore four initial sessions then 16 fortnightly sessions. |
