Andrew holds combined Law/Arts degrees from Monash University and commenced his career as a qualified lawyer. Andrew worked for over seven years in private practice, initially at Allens Arthur Robinson then at Mallesons Stephen Jacques in Melbourne, as well as Richards Butler Lawyers in London. Andrew’s legal career moved in-house for 3 years when he took up a position as a Corporate Lawyer at Ferrier Hodgson the liquidators of the Farrow/Pyramid Group.

Commencing his recruitment career in 1997, Andrew joined a multinational executive recruitment consultancy, focusing on the “start up” phase of Legal Executive Recruitment. Andrew played a key role in developing the consultancy’s legal recruitment practice and was responsible for many high profile appointments in both corporate and private practice in the Melbourne market.

More recently, Andrew spent five and a half years at Hamilton James & Bruce (a major publicly listed recruitment firm) in Melbourne, principally focusing on General Counsel and Senior Counsel appointments in the following sectors: financial services, utilities, government, telecommunications and Partner and Senior Associate search work for major national law firms. Andrew was also a member of the HJB Group Senior Management team as the Senior Principal in the Melbourne office.

In December 2005 Andrew joined Alex Kaar as a Partner and is the National Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance, and has completed an extensive list of search assignments in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Hong Kong. These assignments involved the placement of senior legal counsel with major corporations, Partners and Senior Associates of major law firms, and Heads of Compliance and Risk Management for major financial services organisations.

Andrew also maintains an active involvement in his own professional development through postgraduate study having completed an Executive MBA from AGSM, and his ongoing membership to the Australian Corporate Lawyers' Association.
