David Pope has an extensive background in business development, human resources and general management, having spent his early career within the hospitality industry in a variety of senior management and entrepreneurial capacities. With undergraduate qualifications in both hospitality management and marketing, and postgraduate qualifications in commerce and human resources, David undertook a career change in 2000 and joined a multinational recruitment consultancy to develop his consulting experience in both HR and marketing communications.

Later in his consulting career, David joined later Hamilton James and Bruce in Melbourne where he managed the sales and marketing practice. David has managed teams in recruitment across sales, marketing and corporate communications, whilst taking the lead on senior search appointments across diverse industries including banking, retail and telecommunications for high profile, national and multinational clients.

With the view to broadening his executive search consulting experience, David joined Alex Kaar in June 2005. Utilising his broad commercial background and in-depth search and consulting experience, David is responsible for partnering with clients and providing executive search in the areas of business development, marketing, communications and human resources along with other specialist executive appointments.

David’s broad consulting expertise and corporate experience allow him to work successfully at the senior level across both service industry and manufacturing clients. David’s successes include senior executive appointments for leading ASX listed and international corporations in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
